Overall, I did not feel that the flavors justified the price point. Most dishes come across as technically well-executed yet a bit confused. Frequently, I found that the whole of each dish was less than the sum of its parts. For example, the broth (khavsa) in the scallop dish was nice enough on its own but not as good with the addition of the onions and other components of the dish. There were also some salsas which tasted weirdly similar to a basic supermarket brand, albeit with a more fire-roasted initial flavor. The sauce on the taquitos was too salty. Best bite was the mushroom ‘quesadilla.’ But I’d have been much happier if this dish contained more than 3 halves of a small chapati ‘quesadilla’. Second best bite was the beet salad — the smokiness of the salsa worked nicely with the roasted pepper muhammara and goat cheese by adding a lovely depth. Music louder than my preference. Hard to hear other person at 2 seat table. Price per person: $70–80

I almost hesitated to write this because I’d love to keep this place my own personal secret—but since I don't even live in Chicago, I suppose I have to share! When you pay for a meal, you expect it to be good. Occasionally, you get something delicious. But very rarely does a meal go beyond that and become a genuinely fun, unforgettable experience. Mirra absolutely offered that. The positive, welcoming energy of the place was obvious the moment we opened the door. We were greeted by a friendly staff and seated right across from the kitchen, where we got to see the chefs in action. Our waitstaff was incredibly friendly and clearly loved working there—a vibe we felt from everyone at the restaurant. The food was a brilliant fusion of Indian and Mexican cuisines. It hit us with vibrant colors, incredible flavors, and perfect textures, and the presentation was fantastic. I loved everything about this place. Highly, highly recommended (and keep it a secret).
