The staff appeared overwhelmed during our visit. It took about 20–30 minutes just to receive our drinks and nearly an hour for our food to arrive after we were seated. To their credit, the manager came over multiple times to apologize, which was appreciated. However, when dining out, you expect to be able to enjoy your meal within a reasonable timeframe. It seemed the restaurant may have been understaffed or struggling to keep up with demand. Unfortunately, the food itself was also disappointing. My steak was quite chewy, the breakfast sausage was dry and lacked flavor, and some of the dishes looked as though they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while before being served. I understand the kitchen was likely under significant pressure, and I appreciate the efforts of the staff, but the overall quality of the meal did not meet expectations. I hope the restaurant is able to address its staffing and kitchen challenges, as the employees were courteous and the manager clearly cared about the guest experience. With some improvements, this could be a much better dining experience. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5

Joseph, thank you for the review as we take everything in and use it to only get better. Sorry about the steak, we temp everything and seemed like it was the right temp. You are correct, we were very busy and 1 person understaffed due to an illness. Holidays are definitely hectic. Next time you come in you will have a better experience. Even though your meal was comped, please ask for Jason and we'll send something nice to your table.Respectfully,Ted

Absolutely wonderful experience at Modern Plate! From the moment we sat down, the service and ambiance made the evening feel special. David, our waiter, was outstanding. He laughed and joked with us, made us feel so welcome, and was truly ahead of the game in anticipating what we needed before we even asked. His recommendations were excellent and made the meal even better. Jason, the manager, also came by and was so kind and attentive, even adjusting the lighting and blinds to make sure everything felt just right. Paula, the live pianist, brought such a classy and elegant vibe to the restaurant and really elevated the whole atmosphere. Overall, Modern Plate offers amazing service, a beautiful ambiance, and a team that clearly cares about creating a memorable dining experience. We will definitely be back!
