Mondello is an unusual place. For some, including us, its a fun experience, good food, chatty host and reasonably priced. The whole place has one person acting as front of house and chef, with his wife assisting when possible (as she is keeping the kids amused) on clearing plates etc. As a result, making sure all the tables have food at the same time is a bit of a challenge. This means, as you can tell from the other reviews, its not like your usual UK restaurant. It a bit like turning up at a friends house, they feed you something nice that they have, but you didn't necessarily ask for. .. but you get a bill for it at the end. I should say at this point, I feel that they are really trying to provide good food and good service and this should be supported, but one person trying to deal with all the tables at once results in a dining experience unlike the normal. There is a menu of sorts, but think of it as a hint sheet for the chef rather than a specification of what your actually going to get. If you are counting the pennies, don't come here. You really have no idea what the bill is going to be until the end. It will be fair for what you have had, but you may not have wanted some of it and you don't feel in control of the bill at any point. We ordered seafood pasta, pizza and a bottle of red. What we actually got was ..sicilian salad to share, seafood pasta (different seafood from the menu), pizza (as ordered), lemon cannoli x 3, 1 large limoncello and 1 expresso and the bottle of red. This all came to £60. Very fair as far as I am concerned. So if you can just accept this as a fun fair ride. You'll get some good food, you'll get some OK wine and a few surprises along the way...it won't be dull. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The best restaurant by far , and probably in my whole time if visiting any restaurant. Marco,Sarah , anx the kids were excellent, a vast knowledge of food and wine , and felt like we'd been invited to a friend's house for an evening meal. Genuinely polite and attentive , the food was awesome and we went off Marco's recommendations and we loved it. Definitely my most favourite restaurant of all time. Price per person: £50–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Large vegetarian selection Vegetarian options: Tell Marco what you like or don't like and just leave it to him
