This is probably one of the best experiences you can have in dining. Monica's knowledge of food and wines is outstanding. Never miss an opportunity to attend her fabulous dinners. She pairs everything so well, but I've been her fan since renegade dinner days, and I must say I have never left any event of Monica's hungry or unhappy.

Probably the best food and chef in town. When they were open I ate lunch there every week. Then Covid hit and Monica got scared and testy. I would love to see her open again

Overpriced in my opinion. I get that it's farm to table but $12-15 dollars for a sandwich is a bit overpriced when you're used to getting the regular banh mi sandwiches for 3 bucks at places like the alpha bakery & deli in Houston. I've made 3 visits to Monica's restaurant previously. My first was when she was a food truck. My second being at her brick & mortar. On this 2nd visit I ordered off the chef specialty menu which was a duck confit banh mi sandwich it cost me $15 for the sandwich alone. This was a good tasty sandwich with fresh veggies and crispy duck on top but for $15 bucks I think it would be nice to have a small side salad or a bag of chips included to really make me feel that I got my money's worth. My third visit was when we went to Monica's because it was included in a "Dinner and a Show" deal for the Year of the rooster. The cost for the "Dinner" and a show was $30 with $15 going to the theater and the other $15 to our "dinner" at Monica's. When we got to Monica's we asked the cashier what was on the menu and they told us it was a small salad, bowl of soup, and tea. (all served in plastic ware except for the metal spoon) While the soup and salad were good it was nowhere near filling enough to be called a dinner. We had even asked the server if they had crackers or a piece of bread to go with the soup to which we were told there were none. Some people even sat there wondering if there was going to be another course as this seemed more like an appetizer. (Monica informed me via message that they had $5 half sandwiches on that day as well but we were not informed of this by anyone at the restaurant neither were there any signage to indicate this) TL;DR Good food just a little overpriced and if you come for a dinner and a show make sure you eat a big lunch beforehand or you will be leaving Monica's still hungry after your appetizer of a dinner.
