Making our way around New England and settled into our Airbnb in Braintree for a few days. After enjoying great seafood on RI our group was feeling like some Chinese food. A quick search brought us to Moon Bay which was a solid choice. The restaurant is authentic, the menu had a mixture of American style dishes and very traditional offerings. Menu was in both English and Chinese. Our server was first class, extremely well spoken, attentive and accommodating. As we ordered some appetizers (sorry forgot to take pics) scallion pancakes and gyozas we mentioned someone on our group was extremely allergic to peanuts our waitress brought out a individual soy sauce separately from the sauces that would normally accommodate our apps. We order our mains and they came out slightly offset as they were completed but it was all fine. One of the group ordered some Lo Main and asked for something to make it spicer to which the waitress offered two options. She could bring out some some chilli oil or take the dish back, toss it back to the wok and properly toss in some chilies. We chose the wok and after asking how spicy (we said to bring the heat!) it was taken away, brought back less then 5min later and it was PROPERLY spicy . We wrapped up dinner, paid and headed off with our bellies full and happy with our decision to try Moon Bay. Keep up the great week!! Wow! Traditional Hunan cuisine was terrific! The owner was friendly. The atmosphere was comfortable and the music was a perfect pairing. We enjoyed, Smoked Tufo, Hawaiian Fried Rice, Shinshito Peppers, and Shrimp Shumai coupled with terrific non alcoholic iced teas. Impressive! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $40–50

This restaurant truly impressed me! Every dish showed the chef’s attention to detail — full of flavor, beautifully prepared, and honestly not a single disappointing dish. The steamed fish (pre-order required) was incredibly fresh and tender, perfectly paired with scallions and savory sauce. You could really taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was crispy on the outside while still juicy inside, flavorful without being greasy. The mapo tofu had a rich spicy kick and was absolutely perfect with rice. The basil eggplant was another standout — soft, flavorful, and packed with amazing wok aroma. The lamb hot pot came in a huge portion with a rich, comforting broth that became even more delicious as it simmered, making it perfect for sharing with family and friends. The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable, the staff were warm and attentive, and the food arrived quickly. It’s a great place for family dinners or gatherings with friends. I’m already thinking about what to order next time — we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!
