I had dinner at New Food Experience last night. I ordered the white fish tartare as an appetizer and the grilled secreto as an entree. The food was delicious. The tartare dish had Dijon mustard and a slice of grilled peach. The secreto was delicious as well served with what I think were grilled and/or poached apricots and what appeared to be a grilled leek. Given a dairy restriction, they gave me a complimentary serving of diced strawberries for dessert. The reason for my overall rating of three stars was the portion size versus the price. I am accustomed to ordering an appetizer and entree (with a possible salad) and feeling full but not stuffed. I am not accustomed to the local practice of having to order and pay for the equivalent of two smaller appetizers and a smaller entree in order to eat roughly the same amount of food I do in other countries with just the appetizer and entree. While New Food Experience didn't invent the custom, these portions were small and I was still hungry after I left. I was given six slices of pork for dinner. These are the photos of the appetizer and dinner. That pinkish/reddish meat is secreto, a cut of pork. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: €40–50

We arrived in Rome late at night, almost 11 p.m., and happened to come across New Food just as they were closing. We were so lucky to find them because, instead of turning us away, they were incredibly kind and welcoming and still took care of us. The entire menu is gluten-free and lactose-free, which was such a wonderful surprise and made us feel very comfortable. But what really stood out was their kindness and hospitality. They never made us feel rushed or like we were inconveniencing them, even though it was already so late. Thank you, New Food, for making us feel so welcome after a long day of traveling. We truly appreciated your generosity and care. We will definitely do our best to come back when we are in Rome again!
