This place made me fall in love with Udon! We had the udon carbonara and the bomba, and we loved both! I cannot stop thinking about the udon we had here! Also a large selection of delicious plum wine! Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The entire restaurant is run by the chief himself. There were 3 tables there when I arrived, so he definitely was having a busy time. Yet, he’s friendly and attentive to all customers. They have a list of 60 different types of Ume sake, which I believe is a decent sake list. I ordered their daily special, which has udon, rice, a daily chief recommendation dish, and two side dishes. I added grilled squid for some extra protein. Food arrived quickly, less than 10 mins I reckon? It was a big portion, and when I saw rice and udon being served together, I thought Japanese people’s passion for eating rice and noodle together needs to be studied (in a good way). Udon’s texture is perfect. Chewy but not hard, smooth and silky but not soft or soggy. This is the best udon texture I ever had. Fried chicken is great. Based on the skin, I reckon it’s tempura chicken nuggets. Juicy and flavorful meat with paper thin crust. Excellently executed. Side dishes are fine, that potato salad is better than the other one. Grilled squid is good. It’s juicy and tender but not too smoky. What’s really special is that mayonnaise dip on the side. That mayonnaise tastes so light and delicious. Highly recommended! From the drink menu I saw they offer ume sake flight. I will visit again and try that next time. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I went to Rurio this evening to try their carbonara udon that I had read good things about online! I got there at opening time and was greeted by a lovely member of staff and the chef was friendly too. Nothing could have prepared me for how tasty that carbonara udon was!!! It was that famous carbonara flavour, so creamy and peppery, but when paired with udon that was cooked perfectly and was so chewy - the perfect combination! So glad I tried it and glad I went to Rurio. Perfect portion size and reasonably priced :). Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
