This place was great! All the staff, especially Brandon, when out of their way to make sure we were good. Would seek them out next time we’re connecting thru Houston. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30

I had a really disappointing experience at Pala Pizza in IAH on April 5th around 9:00am. I walked up and asked the chef what time the pizza would be ready, and before he could even respond, the cashier/server abruptly interrupted and said he would help me. The interaction immediately felt off, but I went ahead and ordered a personal pepperoni pizza, which came out to about $25 after tax. When it came time to pay, he asked if I was dining in or taking it to go. I said to go. He then handed me the payment device and had already added an 18% gratuity. I removed it, and his response was extremely rude and condescending. He said, “Oh, I guess I didn’t help you today.” Let’s be clear: a tip is optional and is meant to reflect good service, not something that should be automatically added or expected for simply taking an order. Tipping is supposed to be earned through a positive experience, not pressured onto customers, especially in a quick-service airport setting. When I questioned it, he doubled down with the same attitude. I even mentioned that I could have just ordered through the QR code at the table, and he dismissively told me, “Please do,” and walked away. At that point, I was so taken aback by how I was treated that I left without ordering and went to Starbucks instead. The place was empty, and after that interaction, I completely understand why. Unprofessional, uncomfortable, and honestly shocking behavior. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: $20–30

Two men next to me were waiting for their pizza for 40 minutes and had to leave to catch their flight. After I had waited 20 minutes, I wanted to check in about my pizza too, in case they’d messed up my order too. The woman at the bar/restaurant was very very rude (black wavy hair in a ponytail). She canceled my order and told me she refunded me since I must be in a hurry. She didn’t even give me a receipt for the refund. Very rude and unprofessional.
