Beautiful restaurant Personel is kind and very active. Menu is rich and not expensive. Wine list the same. But tiramisu? Oh my god, the best I have ever had, tasted like heaven. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €20–30

My experience at Casa Di Papi was a VERY(!) strange and interesting one. One that I have never experienced before in my 46 years, and I have travelled to many places in the world and eaten in many restaurants from cheap to very expensive. We arrived around 21:00. It was apparent that the waitress was not in a good mood. We were speaking in English, but she asked if I would prefer a Dutch menu, to which I said "Well, I guess I could use my phone to help translate the text, but it would be easier if it was in English". After a while, we felt that something was a bit off, so we got up to leave. At that point the owner came up to us and asked what was wrong. I said “Everything’s fine, but we just changed our mind”. He said “I am Italian, and when someone comes into my restaurant or my house, I don’t let them leave like this. What happened? Tell me”. So I took a deep breath, explained that we felt the waitress may have been having a bad day, and whilst we wish her all the best we would like to go somewhere else. But he really insisted that we stay and that he would make everything right. While I was speaking to the owner, a nearby customer interjected, trying to take sides with the waitress. It was at this point we should've left. I mean, the owner asked me to speak my truth, so I did. And we wanted to get out of there. It's never a good sign when other people want to get involved and take sides. We sat down, and asked for some tap-water and she said we have to pay for bottled water because basically they want more money… I wanted to say that's kinda obvious, but we are paying for everything else. But I didn't feel like discussing this so I just went with it. The cost of a 0.7l bottle of still water: €5.30... When she came to put the bottle of water on the table, she just dumped it and stormed off. It was at this point that we looked at each other and said "that's enough". In the meantime, we can hear the owner arguing with the waitress. I never blamed the waitress for being in a bad mood - we all have that, but when someone points out that you were tired/cranky and you were, don't get defensive. Just admit it. But then the other customer who looked somewhat like a barbaric overweight football fan turned to me and said something in Dutch, to which I replied “Sorry, I don’t understand what you’re saying”. He then said to me in English: “Yes you do” and repeated the same words... typical arrogant Dutch. I said again “I don't understand what you’re saying”. To which he said in English “Yes, you do. You must know these words”. I said to him “You probably wouldn't know the thoughts that are happening in your own head, let alone in mine”. He then got upset and threatened me with physical violence. Perhaps I should've called the police, but we just walked out. In hindsight, it’s very ridiculous and comical to create drama over such a thing, because all we wanted to do was eat some food, pay for it, and leave, and everyone would've been happy. And all because I was asked to be honest, and I naively told the truth, whilst also trying to be mindful and understanding of the waitress, asking not to get her in trouble. After we left, we went to another restaurant and explained what had happened. They said they’ve heard of similar stories, and that they used to be a good restaurant until they changed to the new owners. I also mentioned this to a local Dutch friend and he said the same and that he avoids going there. And in response to the reply from the owner:. It is not your business to intervene in anyone's decision to leave your dodgy operation. You don't seem to understand the primary cause of the problem was that you're just chasing money, and you insisted we stay against our wishes. I admit, it is my mistake that I gave you a chance. There's not a single lie in my review here, which makes you a liar. Liars are thieves. It is clear that you use people and love money, but as a result it has created bad feelings. Perhaps change your values to: using money, and loving people. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €10–20

You are very rud person and you are very bad telling the story. Shame on u. People has to understand that u are lier. But any way. I hope that u dont do this every where
