We went there for their pies. I had the chicken & leek and my husband had the steak, bacon & cheese with peas, chips and gravy. Yum to all of it. Just a small country pub on the way to Eungella. Really enjoyed it. Service: 5

Positives: The pies are legendary — rich filling, flaky pastry, the kind of old-school pub pie that feels homemade. The crumbed steak is no joke — order the full serve and it literally fills the plate. Crisp crumb, tender meat inside, and cooked perfectly. Portion sizes are massive — you won’t leave hungry. Classic country pub vibes: welcoming, casual, and packed with locals who know where the good food is. Prices are great value considering how much food you get. Negatives: If you go for the full steak serve, don’t plan on moving much afterwards. (That’s not really a complaint, just a warning.) Verdict: Pinnacle Family Hotel is worth the drive for the food alone. The pies are some of the best you’ll find in regional QLD, and the crumbed steaks are a challenge in the best way. Proper hearty country pub cooking done right — if you’re anywhere near Mackay or the Pioneer Valley, this is a must-stop.
