Paid in full through Expedia, apon arrival staff acknowledged booking but said they had no rooms available and were unsympathetic and unhelpful to my family. I am aware that this may be the fault of Expedia but Reef resort completely washed their hands of the issue. Poor customer service. Service: 1

Absolutely disgusted with our experience at Reef Resort. After travelling 14 hours with a young sick child, we arrived late at night exhausted and had no other option but to stay the night and walking into that room was honestly horrifying. The room was absolutely filthy and clearly had not been cleaned at all before our arrival. There was human pubic hair everywhere, dead flies throughout the room, cockroaches, and silverfish crawling on us while we were trying to sleep in the bed. The fridge was revolting, covered in hair and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. Honestly, nothing in that room appeared to have been cleaned properly. There were no complementaries. The towels were old and literally eaten away by silverfish. There were holes in the doors, no blankets, and only one pillow each. The entire room felt dirty, unhygienic, and neglected. It was beyond unacceptable and not fit for guests to stay in. We checked out first thing in the morning because there was absolutely no way we could stay a second night in those conditions. The resort refunded us for the second night, however they still kept our money for the first night despite the disgusting condition of the room and the fact we were only there a few hours due to arriving late at night after travelling all day. We had no choice but to stay those few hours because we had a sick child with us and nowhere else to go at that time of night. Booking.com were also completely unhelpful throughout the situation. They were unable to help us recover our money for the first night and only offered us a $25 credit toward finding new accommodation, which honestly felt insulting considering everywhere else available was over $600 per night at such short notice. There was no real apology, no accountability, no compensation for the condition of the room, and absolutely no care shown toward us as paying customers. This was genuinely the worst accommodation experience we have ever had. The cleanliness standards are appalling and I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to book elsewhere.

I stay here every time I have work booked in Mackay at least 4 times a year, Rooms a comfortable and clean, great location and awesome value. 10/10 would recommend Service: 5
