The restaurant itself was extremely quiet, so it was disappointing to experience such poor customer service from the beginning of the visit. The server who seated us and took our order (Tristan) came across as very unfriendly, and his body language made us feel quite uncomfortable and nervous. While he did use basic manners such as saying “thank you”, it felt very forced and as though he simply didn’t care about the customers or the experience he was providing. When my companion ordered her pizza, he cut her off mid-sentence to abruptly say they didn’t have it available. The way this was handled made her feel rushed and pressured into quickly choosing something else instead. Throughout the meal, plates and glasses were also placed down very aggressively, which added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. The food itself was great, although the mains took quite a while to arrive. Interestingly, the other servers who brought our starter were far friendlier and far more welcoming, which only highlighted the difference in attitude. As someone who works in hospitality and customer service myself, I find this kind of attitude towards customers unacceptable. Good hospitality is about making guests feel comfortable and welcome, regardless of how busy the restaurant is. I understand that everyone can have difficult days or personal challenges, and I always try to be understanding when it comes to customer service. However, regardless of circumstances, customers should still be treated in a polite, welcoming, and professional manner. I would strongly suggest this staff member receives further training on basic customer service and hospitality etiquette. Update after returning a week later: Unfortunately, after giving this restaurant another chance, the experience was even worse. There were four of us dining and the restaurant was almost completely empty, with only around three other tables occupied. Despite this, we waited around 45 minutes while repeatedly trying to get someone’s attention before eventually having to get up ourselves and ask a waiter to take our order. When the food finally arrived, only three meals were brought out. The waiter then asked if we wanted an extra plate for the fourth person to share from the existing meals, despite the fact we had ordered a lasagna. After we questioned this, she responded with “ah yes, it’s just being finished off now.” Around 20 minutes later, two of us had already finished eating and the lasagna still had not arrived. When it eventually came out, the waiter apologised for the delay and said we would not be charged for it. However, while the plate itself was sizzling hot, the middle of the lasagna was cold, making it very obvious it had been rushed. Considering how long we waited and the confusion surrounding it, it genuinely felt as though the order had simply been forgotten rather than delayed in the kitchen. After we complained again, a further 20% was taken off the bill. We were then left waiting a long time just to pay and once again had to physically get up and find someone ourselves. Given how empty the restaurant was, the excessive waiting times, incorrect handling of the order, cold food, and poor communication were extremely disappointing. What made the situation worse was the attempt to disguise the mistake instead of simply apologising honestly from the start, which is not acceptable customer service. Just had a takeaway from Pizza Express and WOW absolutely smashed it Arrived warm, perfectly crispy, and packed with flavour. The base had that ideal crunch, toppings were generous and fresh, and every bite just hit right. You know it’s good when you’re already planning the next order before you’ve even finished Takeaway pizza can be hit or miss, but this was spot on. Proper comfort food done right 10/10 – no notes, just more pizza please. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
