We absolutely love coming here. If your looking for a more sophisticated and cozy cinema experience then this is it. There is a lovely cafe area on the ground floor with lots of great options for food drinks and snacks. There are lots of lounge areas to sit and relax. A balcony area on the upper floors makes it extra special. The screens themselves are medium size and seating comfortable with decent leg room and a table on the arm for each person. There is not dedicated parking but there is a car park a short distance away at priory street. Overall always a good experience.

Went to a baby screening which was great value for money but there was a really big queue for the included drinks and popcorn. Also a big queue for the lift as only one pram at a time, felt not quite ready for it to be as busy as it was.

Really disappointed to discover after 3 weeks away, that this Curzon still hasn’t lightened their screens and one of their physical screens is all bunched up at the bottom creating large creases. Why is the projection of your films so dark? It increasingly feels like I’m watching an illegal download. You need to work out the brightness and the contrast etc so that the audience isn’t straining their eyes. As it keeps getting worse I’m thinking more and more of just waiting for a streaming or physical release and skipping the cinema. “The Salt Path” looked atrocious and muted when all I’ve heard from others who have seen it elsewhere is how gorgeous it is. Well, not at Curzon Colchester. I’ve been a member for years, and I’m seriously thinking of dropping out. That’s how bad it is. Do something. Please. You’re a cinema. Make the projection of your films the priority.
