Service was an absolute disaster!! The lady at the counter was extremely rude for no reason and was talking very loud to us! We were there with our family — a staff member took our order, he listed everything down and when we went to pay, there was a lady at the counter, she told us, “you need to list everything you ordered, I’m not going to know.” We did exactly that, but she still spoke to us in a rude, dismissive, and mean manner while we were simply trying to order our food. I’m usually the first to be kind and respectful to everyone, especially people working in customer service as I’ve worked in this sector. This was my first experience of this kind — honestly the meanest I’ve been spoken to. It was disappointing, especially coming from someone around the same age as me. It’s not hard to just speak politely — you don’t even have to be overly friendly, just don’t be rude. What might be just another normal workday for you could be a special occasion for someone else. This was meant to be a celebration with my parents. We hadn’t said or done anything wrong, yet we were treated poorly. We left feeling upset and disappointed. Businesses should be mindful of who they place in customer-facing roles, as one interaction like this can leave a lasting negative impression. I’m extremely disappointed with our experience at this café during our visit to Sovereign Hill. What should have been a great day out in Ballarat was ruined by the way we were treated here. From the beginning, staff made us repeat our order multiple times in a way that felt unnecessary and dismissive. It didn’t feel like a simple misunderstanding—it felt targeted. After ordering, they didn’t call out when our coffee was ready, while other customers were clearly being attended to. We were left waiting and had to go up and check ourselves. The most unacceptable part was being told that our English knowledge was poor. That comment was completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and offensive. There is no justification for speaking to customers that way. Taken together, the behaviour we experienced felt discriminatory and made us feel unwelcome. No one should be treated like that, especially at a well-known tourist destination. I strongly suggest management looks into this and addresses how customers are treated, because this completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable visit. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

The only modern building in the park, mostly cafe food, prices aren't too bad. Sausage roll and coffee was good Price per person: $1–20 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
