I didn't like that I was charged a service fee. This service fee was 15% which was the tip. With service not being great at all I should have had the option of deciding on how much of a tip I wanted to leave but, because the waitress know that they're getting this 15% tip no matter what they really don't have to give you quality service. What a disappointment Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

The food at El Ranchero was actually good. It came out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, that’s where the positive experience ended. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty, yet several wait staff were sitting in booths near the front. It still took quite a while for someone to take our drink order and even longer to take our food order. We were brought chips once, but no one ever offered a refill, and our water glasses were never refilled either. The biggest issue came at the end of the meal. Without any warning or permission, our bill included a $4.54 service fee plus an additional fee for paying with a card instead of cash. We were only a party of two, not a large group, and there were no signs posted anywhere explaining these charges ahead of time. Because the service was minimal at best, we had already planned to leave a smaller tip. Even a 20% tip would have been around $4, but instead we were charged over $5 in added fees for a disappointing dining experience. Transparency matters, and surprise charges combined with poor service left a very bad impression. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Servers were rude and attempting to upcharge me. Waited 20 minutes for food which never came. Told the host to cancel my order and left. Only 4 other people in the restaurant. Chips were stale. Place was dusty and dirty. Should have looked at the reviews before. Go somewhere else for Mexican food. Meal type: Lunch Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
