Finding a genuinely excellent dining spot can sometimes be a challenge when you are outside the major city centers, but Raya in Lugoj completely exceeded my expectations. We recently stopped by for a meal, and the entire experience from the moment we walked in until the time we left was thoroughly impressive. First off, the ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern elegance and a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. The interior is thoughtfully designed, feeling spacious yet intimate enough for a relaxed dinner with the family. The lighting is just right—neither too dim nor overwhelmingly bright—and the background music is kept at a level that actually allows for comfortable conversation across the table. It is clear that someone put a lot of effort into creating a space where guests genuinely want to linger. Moving on to the food, the menu offers a well-curated selection that caters to a variety of tastes without being overwhelmingly large. I always appreciate a restaurant that focuses on doing a few things exceptionally well rather than trying to offer a hundred mediocre dishes. We started with a few appetizers to share, and the quality of the ingredients was immediately apparent. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully plated. For the main courses, the kitchen really delivered. I opted for a meat dish—cooked exactly to the requested temperature, tender, and accompanied by a side that complemented the flavors perfectly rather than just acting as a filler. The rest of the family was equally pleased with their choices, from perfectly al dente pasta to beautifully cooked poultry. The portion sizes are generous, offering great value for the price, yet the presentation remains refined and appetizing. It is rare to find a place that balances hearty portions with fine-dining aesthetics so effortlessly. What truly sets Raya apart, however, is the standard of service. The staff is professional, attentive, and genuinely polite without hovering over the table. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, made excellent recommendations when asked, and ensured our glasses were never empty. Courses were timed perfectly, allowing us enough space to breathe between the appetizers and the main event. It is this kind of seamless hospitality that transforms a good meal into a memorable evening out. In terms of pricing, I found it to be very fair given the high quality of the food, the fantastic service, and the premium setting. You definitely get what you pay for, and in this case, it is a top-tier dining experience right in the heart of Lugoj. I highly recommend Raya to anyone passing through or living in the area. Whether you are looking for a place to host a special family celebration, a business lunch, or simply a great dinner to end the week, this restaurant hits all the right marks. We will absolutely be returning the next time we are in town. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: lei 60–80
