I looked Rebellion Doughnuts up on Yelp before deciding to try them, and I was very excited to taste the delicious looking doughnuts. My initial impression was that the tables and floor could definitely use some cleaning. I understand that there may not be an opportunity when there are several people coming in to order, but at the time I walked in, there were only six or eight people eating in there, and we were the only new customers for a few minutes. When we walked up to order, we were not really acknowledged as the employees were going back and forth about who was going to do the dishes. So, first impressions were not awesome, but I still had those Instagram worthy doughnuts to look forward to. I ordered a blueberry cake doughnut and a red velvet cake doughnut (because cake doughnuts are the best). They looked awesome in the display, and the doughnuts I received definitely looked appetizing. The blueberry cake doughnut had a big punch of blueberry, which I really enjoyed; unfortunately, the doughnut itself was pretty dry. I will preface this next sentence by saying that my preference is usually not a lot of icing on my pastries, and the doughnut I saw in the case was on the border of what I typically do and do not order. I decided to give it a shot anyway. The red velvet cake doughnut tasted great and was moist, but there was so much sugar from all the icing that I could not finish it. However, if you enjoy really sweet doughnuts with a lot of icing, you would definitely enjoy the red velvet! I probably would have given a better review as the doughnuts themselves were not two stars, but the overall experience was. I drove out of the way to try Rebellion Doughnuts, but I think I will probably just stay closer to home next time.
