The tour is really cool for the experience of seeing another angle of Rio besides the south zone. It's a trip for tourists and for people from the city to get to know it, it's not the type to go on all the time, unless you really like it. I went during the day (12/30) and the weather wasn't the best, but the view was still beautiful. Maybe the night visit would be really cool and I would come back that way. The best way during the day is to walk around the port and look at everything. Yes, transport is really annoying, get a Riocard from a machine beforehand to go by light rail or take an Uber and take the opportunity to go to AquaRio which is nearby. The Ferris wheel is clean, air-conditioned and the queue was not absurd. And yes, there are almost obligatory photos to buy at the end, like in every tourist spot!! I paid 20 reais to enter the promotion, getting a draft beer or guaravita and the shop had everything at half price, but unlike what they said, I found the attendants super friendly and helpful. My wife and I went to Rio Star on a sunny Sunday at lunch time. We were positively surprised by the absence of a queue. The price was R$60 per person and entitles you to as many rides per day as you want in a private cabin. The view is not the most incredible of Rio de Janeiro, but it gives a good view of the city, allowing you to understand Rio's diversity. Porto Maravilha is also very beautiful, with several recently renovated buildings. There is also more than one fair in the region, with many food and craft options.
