La Grotta della Rana is a restaurant that represents a real hidden gem in the heart of Tuscany. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by a rustic and welcoming atmosphere, with furnishings that recall local traditions and a friendly and attentive staff. The strong point of the restaurant are undoubtedly the first courses, which reflect the richness and variety of Tuscan cuisine. Each dish is prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, often sourced from local producers. Among the specialties not to be missed are the pici with wild boar ragù, a true triumph of flavours, and the pappardelle with hare sauce, perfect for those who love intense and authentic flavours. Even the simplest dishes, such as ravioli with butter and sage or ribollita, manage to amaze with their authenticity and goodness. The fresh pasta is homemade, and in every bite you can feel the care and passion that the chef puts into the preparation. Close to the small but delightful village of San Sano, La Grotta della Rana is a rustic restaurant, with outdoor tables and a fine cellar of local wines, where before eating you can choose the most suitable wine and, if you wish, it is also possible go away to buy a few bottles and special cold cuts. We had dinner 2 evenings in this restaurant because the food is really good and we have tasted many dishes, what to recommend? Everything, really everything. These gentlemen know how to cook and as good restaurateurs they only have quality products. We tasted an amazing Florentine steak (over a kilo) aged in the right time and manner. Exceptional tagliatelle with fresh truffles, lamb, the famous stew (cooked in wine for 4/5 hours), good flavored baked potatoes, their vin Santo with cantucci and don't miss the Catalan cream. If all this weren't enough, I would like to add honest prices, quality products and applauds to the owners who, with their attention, will be able to make your stay magical. Girando il chianti ci fermiamo alla grotta della rana, bellussimo il borgho medievale, soprattutto buonissimi i loro cibi, ci hanno consigliato i pici al coccio e i pici al pecorino e capocollo, per finire una grigliata e una tagliata agli aromi con un bel chianti classico. Consiglio e torneremo sicuramente.
