A small robatayaki restaurant that is family owned. Once you stepped into the restaurant, you are welcomed by the cozy and traditional robatayaki deco and the warm smile from the owner. Guests are all seated round the table with a small stove in the center. Though the actual grilling is no longer done there, you still get to experience the ‘gathering round the table’ eating and chit chatting experience. We ordered scallop and tuna sashimi, minced meat skewers, grilled mackerel, fried chicken and boiled green asparagus. While the plating is nothing fanciful, the taste of the food is fresh and delicious. Definitely can match those in the big restaurants. The garlic fried rice that the group sitting next to me ordered smells heavenly. Would definitely want to try it out when I come back the next time. Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

A hidden gem in Furano! Probably one of the most authentic and traditional izakaya experiences we’ve had. Our favourite dishes were the chicken skin, garlic fried rice, asparagus, cucumber, chicken ball and oysters — honestly, almost everything here was incredibly fresh and delicious. We made a reservation through AutoReserve with a fee involved — not too sure if there’s another way to secure a seat here, but it was definitely worth it. Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

To all the haters giving this restaurant bad reviews: Go home or eat somewhere else. McDonalds has great stuff for you. If you know a couple of very basic Japanese expressions you will be treated really well and the food that is served is impeccable. The problem are all the tourists who do not know to behave. There was an American group across us and we could hear every word they said as they were tone-deaf to keeping the atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. We were tourists, too. But we made sure to honor Japanese culture. Imagine running a cosy little place and being subjected to ignorants like these every evening. 10 years ago Furano was a quiet place that has now turned into a hellhole of foreigners for the locals. Show respect. Thank you Robata. It was such a lovely evening. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
