The space is bright and inviting. I was there during an overcast and rainy day and there was still an abundance of natural light coming through the windows. The building itself is full of character, I spent a good amount of time staring at the walls and ceiling. The glassware and utensils used are all beautiful. The classic cocktail menu is extensive and prepared extremely well. Andrew knows how to make pretty much everything. He's a very hospitable bartender and regularly checks in and makes recommendations. I stopped by a few other local watering holes while in Algoma and this place was by far the nicest. Nothing against the others in the area, I had wonderful service from friendly people at those places, but Ruse is the only place in town I would describe as "beautiful". It reminded me a lot of cocktail bars I have been to in Milwaukee and Chicago.
