Former Employee of Sonic Drive-In of Greenwood, South Carolina. I worked here for only three months and was honestly glad when I was let go. I hated this job for multiple reasons, the most important of which was the cleanliness inside and the way in which the food was handled. I was often stationed on desserts and would leave every night covered from head to toe (literally) in the spray of ice cream because we were not offered aprons or gloves, and there was no splash guard on the machines. The cooks prepare food barehanded, and carhops and fountains (the two positions up front) would then have to bag the food barehanded. Any food that wasn't completely wrapped was at risk of being handled by someone who (most likely) had previously been touching other things including trash, cleaning products, or other food without being washed. Even the desserts had the potential of having an employee's finger stuck in it. If ice cream happened to be hanging off of the side of a cup after being mixed, it would most likely be pushed back inside with a bare hand. The ice cream sandwiches were prepared and bagged without gloves. Candy that had spilled onto the counters was often scooped up and used in the next order. Cups that had fallen onto the floor were rinsed in the sink and used. It got to the point that I dreaded going in to work knowing that our customers had no idea of the sanitary issues inside. I would often call out to work doubles at another job because of it, which I am not proud of, and is the reason I was let go. This review is not out of spite or bitterness towards my former employers, but rather a public service announcement I wish I had received before I started working with/ representing them.
