Had a great lunch at SOT Dining and was genuinely impressed by both the food and the overall dining experience. We ordered the Charim shared dining set and upgraded to the Wagyu Yangnyum Gui. The highlight for me was definitely the Mulhoe. The spicy cold broth was refreshing and packed with seafood including salmon, prawns and squid. It was the perfect starter and really whetted the appetite. The wagyu was tender, flavourful and beautifully marinated. I also loved the ssam setup with fresh lettuce, perilla leaves and various side dishes, which made every bite different and enjoyable. Speaking of side dishes, the variety was surprisingly generous and everything tasted fresh. The Sot Bap was another standout. The purple rice had a lovely chewy texture and paired perfectly with the meal. For drinks, the Grapefruit Black Tea and Yuzu Ade were both refreshing and complemented the food well. The restaurant itself has a modern, minimalist Korean aesthetic with beautiful tableware and presentation. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Considering the quality of the food, the generous portions and the overall experience, I thought it offered excellent value for money. Definitely one of the best modern Korean dining experiences I’ve had in Melbourne and I’ll happily return. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Overall, I was quite impressed with the food here and would definitely come back again. I would describe the restaurant as offering a modern interpretation of traditional Korean cuisine, while still keeping the essence of the dishes intact. I ordered the Sura Set, which came with a raw fish entrée, wagyu beef, a sot bab of my choice (I went with the seafood sot bab), and dessert. For those unfamiliar, “sot” refers to the pot used to cook and serve the rice. The set also came with some sides, like kimchi and seaweed soup. The seaweed soup was one of the best I ever tasted. Yums The restaurant was generous with the ingredients, and the overall quality of the food was very good. The seafood sot bab in particular was comforting and satisfying, while the wagyu was well-prepared and enjoyable. Though, I would have preferred if the restaurant cut the wagyu into smaller slices as we were not given a knife to cut it to smaller pieces on our own. Special shoutout to the restaurant staff as well for making the exception to arrange a nice private space for our group on the second floor since we had quite a large gathering. Lovely experience overall! The meals were absolutely delicious and the flavours felt well balanced. I had the chicken SOT while my friend ordered the steak SOT, and both were incredibly tasty and comforting. The side dishes were also a highlight — fresh, flavourful and refreshing, they really boosted our appetite. The pricing was reasonable as well, around $40 per person including drinks, which felt like great value for the quality and portion size. The table was a little small, but honestly it wasn’t an issue and didn’t take away from the experience at all. Definitely a spot worth visiting if you enjoy comforting Korean food!
