Lovely restaurant! Food really lovely! Good atmosphere. Eaten in & had takeaway. Both brilliant! Definitely recommend. Good prices too. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Absolutely appalling evening at Samad Cottage. Having lived in Sheffield we have visited here many times before and so we chose here as some family members had never been before. We highly recommended it. Never ever again!! Our family of seven, 6 adults and one child booked in at 6.30 on a Saturday evening. Arrived on time, bang on 6.30pm. Taken to our table upstairs and before we had even taken our seats asked if we required poppadoms. We had not even taken our coats off. We suspected something wasn’t right. Waiter had a face like thunder. Settled at the table and ordered poppadoms - sauces tasted like they were watered down. Waiter, still with a face like thunder. Pestered and pestered for drinks and then when we wanted to order there was no one around. 2 starters ordered and chicken chatt was ok, onion bahji was over cooked by a mile and inedible. Ordered our mains with the same waiter with a face still like thunder and with an impression of it being too much like hard work to serve us! It became very busy upstairs, very noisy but this wasn’t an issue. Mains arrived very quickly immediately after clearing the starter plates and by this time we knew something wasn’t right. The 6 courses for the adults were almost watered down. Tasteless and clearly rushed. One course of chicken makhani again was inedible, almost a taste of watered down tomato soup. Very soon after finishing the mains, we were surrounded by staff, hovering and quickly clearing plates. The child in the party wanted ice cream, only for us to be told by the staff that they now needed our table. Less than a hour and a half of taking off our coats. They even started taking our drinks away that were unfinished to clear the table. We were given an ice cream and had to walk home to eat it! Unbelievable! At no point during booking our reservation, to getting there to eating our meal were we told we had a time limit on our table. Had we been told, we could accommodated this. The worst meal, the worst experience, staff ok apart from the one clearly not wanting to serve us and an absolute waste of £171. Samad Cottage, for some of us you had a great reputation, now, for all of us you will never see us again. In the words of all 6 adults - Appaling!! Never again. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Absolutely appalling tasteless expensive experience. Rushed service, absolutely hounded us from sitting down as the table had obviously been booked post our booking without leaving enough time for both. Food was nothing like anything ordered. Mostly tomato puree based with hardly any ingredients. Rice portions were tiny. Pickle trays were diluted and very thin. Started picking up our drinks to move us off the table before we had finished. Party of 7 had less than 1.5 hours to arrive, get seated, order and eat. No coffee etc. Needless to say we will not be spending our hard earned cash again here. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
