I, one of the first customers (year 2006 I believe), thanks to the indications of "Uncle Dino" (a person known in the area) met by chance while I was looking for a restaurant. San Domenico... what can I say? For me it is THE RESTAURANT in Monopoli. Environment, service, cuisine and quality all excellent. I can't describe anything else, you have to go to find out, you will be satisfied! Without a doubt, the food in Monopoli is very good. But leaving aside pubs and bars converted (with seasonal improvisation...) to catering, only a few trattorias and inns (the oldest!) really make the difference: they are able to create unforgettable dishes with the use of high quality products , managing to create a great dish from a "simple" dish (perhaps from the Apulian culinary tradition), with a good visual impact and great taste. And one family, the Abruzzese, has been a brand of excellence in Monopoli's catering and hospitality industry for years. Here, at the Trattoria San Domenico, everything works wonderfully, from the service to the food, all managed with attention and seriousness that only a family business can guarantee... here you will find pure friendliness. We started with the mixed starter - it is their historic business card - a tasty carousel of flavours. And if you are in Monopoli, you cannot leave out fish dishes: we have chosen, recommended by Rocco, the maître, the "mezze sleeves with squid ragu" and a classic that speaks of Puglia, the "chicories with broad beans", served with toasted semolina bread slices. The mixed fry of "paranza" (red mullet, cod, calamari and shrimp) is the fish cocktail that tells everyone the flavor of the sea, accompanied by a good glass of cheerful white wine (we took the house "quartino" , a splendid Verdeca). Finishing with a sweet treat, the "almond brittle". The bill? Very right, especially with a high quality/price ratio, above my expectations. (Arm yourself with enormous patience to reserve a table: whatever the wait, it will be worth it!)
