Booked a birthday dinner via OpenTable. -Free Valet Parking (That's already an amazing start to our dinner, not having to worry about our car windows being smashed during our meal somewhere in sf). I think people show up here with a lot of expectations. We just showed up with zero expectations and had a fantastic experience. 3 coure pre fixed menu $125 person plus fixed 20% tip. (Lots of items on the menu were add ons, and you can pay extra to order a la carte items) Our server Chris was lovely! We tried: 1. Ravioli 2. Abalone (can skip this) 3. Duck Breast (Best dish we had) 4. Lobster 5. Beef Wellington I'm a big fan of relaxing & romantic ambiance/experience. This place was excellent, and I will be coming back for business dinner next time. Perfect! All the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. 5 star! Total bill with everything, alcohol $620. Excellent meal in the bay area. Outstanding caviar service. The Duck and Pea Veloute were excellent. Attentive yet friendly service. We will be returning Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Caviar Service

We came here for a fancier than usual date night. Entering Selby's is like entering into different decade/world- with an Old Hollywood upscale vibe. There's a main seating area which is separate the bar area, which is definitely photo-op worthy. It's a mandatory 3 course dinner menu, with a starter, main and dessert. They also gave an amuse-bouche, along with complimentary popovers which was amazing, and wrapped candy at the end. Service was very good, everyone was very attentive. I would just add that given the vibe they are going through, while our waiter was just fine, I didn't feel like I was walked through an experience like I did at Protege and The Sea by Alexander. If you know your wines, this is the place since the wine list is a serious novel. For the appetizers, I just loved my YellowFin Tuna Tartare. We had just come back from Hawaii actually, and this raw fish definitely surpassed most dishes we had there! loved the fresh chips it came with My husband had the ravioli which were beautifully plated, and made with very fresh pasta. For entrees, my sea bass was quite good, though not in a mouth wateringly buttery/flaky way that I most prefer. My husband paid extra for the dry-aged ribeye. I guess he fell for the story the waiter gave him on how the farmer who raised the cattle, haha! We enjoyed our desserts as well. Profiterole was amazing- I had to ask what that meant, but it was basically a fancy cream puff with ice cream stuffed inside. The chocolate cake was very rich/good, I can't believe I'm saying this- but maybe a little bit too dense. It was hard to finish, which was fine, we took the rest home. Overall, we had a wonderful night at Selby's
