Bar Sgroi: Hospitality and food at the top! Together with my family we decided this time to avoid using the car to reach Taormina and we opted for the first time to take the bus (Autolinee Interbus) directly from Letojanni, the place of our stay (June 2021). So we discovered that the terminus is in Piazza Corrado Cagli and that we could buy tickets directly at the Bar Sgroi. Having arrived on site early, the owner welcomes us and immediately puts us at ease. She makes us sit at the tables and offers us a glass of cold water, which, given the strong heat, seems like gold to us and we order a cold coffee cream. Sacrosanct. We pay the return journeys for three at a total of 9.00 euros! Practically free! So he explains to us that we will be dropped off at Porta Messina leaving every hour and 20 minutes and returning at the same point every hour and 40 minutes. Very easy! While speaking, he tells us that at the Sgroi Bar they also cook for lunch and that it is best to come to an agreement beforehand just for the sake of convenience. In fact, after a few hours upon departure from Taormina we send down the order and upon arrival he presents us with three super dishes of fresh seasonal salad composed to perfection with meat rolls stuffed with Bronte pistachios. The staff are very good and kind and put us at ease and even offered us coffee. Evidently the sympathy is mutual. Then the Lady adds that if we wanted she could also prepare lunch for us to take away. So I booked for the next day even though our plans were to spend the whole day at the beach, so much so that he offered to come and pick us up to avoid having to move our car from the parking lot or even to bring us lunch on site, but I decline the His suggestions for not taking too much advantage of kindness. In fact, with a walk of a few minutes, at the pre-arranged time I return to them for some well-seasoned and succulent sandwiches. Enough for a lunch on the beach and very honest prices. The first time, for me, that the dishes are better than the tempting photos on the menu! When I pass through Letojanni this will certainly be an obligatory stop. Highly recommended.
