Dear Pooja,Thank you for your review and the photograph. We have studied both carefully. In the photo, we noticed you appear to be playing with your food using your fingers. Were you searching for something? Perhaps the manager's manners? Or maybe just a softer pea? It is an unusual dining technique, but we do not judge. Curiosity, however, is unavoidable.We still cannot recognise the restaurant you describe. Yours sounds like a fever dream. Ours is neither.We are proud of our team and the warm environment built over many years. The suggestion that we treated you differently from a British group is ridiculous. We do not check passports. We do not have a secret nationality list. Our host greets everyone with the same courtesy. If a British group received a warmer welcome, perhaps they were regulars. Perhaps they smiled. Perhaps – radical thought – they did not interpret a routine seating practice as a personal insult. We were not judging you. We were doing our job. Sorry if that disappointed you.As for your matar dish, we are sorry you found it dry and the peas uncooked. That is not our standard. Had you allowed us to fix it, we would have. However, you were not refused. You were given an explanation of traditional preparation. There is a difference – lost somewhere between your table and your photograph. Extra gravy is not always appropriate, much like extra ice in fine whisky. You can, but you should not. Forgive us for not knowing about your special relationship with gravy.This affair is more dramatic than the Princess and the Pea. In that tale, one pea under twenty mattresses caused a sleepless night. In your story, a few firm peas have triggered an emotional crisis – complete with finger photography. We shall nominate you as patron saint of slightly crunchy vegetables. There will be a parade. The peas will be raw. You may poke them.The accusation that an Indian establishment cannot cook basic Indian food is amusing. We have served thousands of Indian customers for years. Many are regulars and dear friends. Not one has accused us of raw peas or disrespect. Forgive us if we take your version with a generous pinch of salt. The entire cellar, in fact.Which makes us wonder – why so much hate in your life? A disappointing meal is one thing. But a detailed, angry review, an accusation of discrimination, and urging others to avoid us over a few peas? It suggests more than a curry. Are you alright? Do you need a hug? Some softer peas? We do not play therapist. We just cook.You advised people to avoid us. How kind. We shall add "Banned by Pooja" to our achievements, next to "Voted Best by People Who Enjoy Food." Our counter-advice: come and judge for yourselves. We welcome everyone with the same warmth – one-star or five-star. Though we prefer the latter. Obviously.We wish you well, Pooja. Truly. But we wish you had let us fix your peas before you decided to fix us. And perhaps used a spoon for your photo. Alas, here we are. The peas are still firm. The restaurant is still standing.
