Currently on a fresh oyster roll in Seattle!! We are big fans of the small, sweet oysters. We had two of each of their own selection and ended up ordering a dozen more of the Deer Creek oysters, super yummy and tasted so fresh. The sauces that come with the oysters were just magnificent and paired off so well! It's also really cool that they literally shuck the oysters in front of you. Well not literally in front of you, but you see one of the workers doing it in a corner near the kitchen! Among other things we ordered were the: clam chowder, the fried calamari and the dungeness crab mac and cheese. All were just so so, the crab mac and cheese was super salty and I couldn't eat most of it. Our server was an elderly gentleman and provided fast and attentive service. Our table was pretty small and we had to play tetris with most of the items lol. Overall, I'd say the only really decent thing here is their oysters. It's SUPER pricey here and not really worth the bang for your buck.
Dropping 2 stars as they have dropped quality in 3 noticable ways: The service keeps becoming increasingly slower, less attentive, and more complacent almost every visit. Meals take much longer, water or bread is not refilled, the check takes too long, customers are not checked on as frequently, and they have lost the customer high touch and special touch they had before. Very sad as service was one of their greatest assets before. The clams and linguine was one of their best menu items, one of the best versions in the city, and frankly a big reason why myself and others came here.  They removed it off their menu despite many pleads not too. It feels like a slap in the face to not care what the previous loyal customers enjoyed the most there. The biggest asset of the restaurant is tradition, so why do they screw that up and change up menu items their original loyal customers loved? I've seen other similar reviews on other items. The switch from the bread to the rolls seems to be a downgrade, but the two issues mentioned previously are the biggest reason for the downgrade. This was a restaurant representing true excellence before and I stood by it 100%. Very sad to see the slippage recently.  Why do they break such a good thing? All of the tradition they are current breaking is also breaking customer loyalty and the chance of return visits. In a short time, they have slipped a long way. I also see a lot more lower star reviews recently, from my fellow Seattle yelpers that usually overrate restaurants, so that is not a good sign either. That should be a big wake up call if anyone in management is listening that you need to start a big effort to get back to where you were previously.
The ambiance is nothing short of amazing! The food is good, but not brilliant either. The dining room is gorgeous. It exudes a comfortable, cozy elegants with beautifully carved wood galore, wonderful vintage brass chandeliers and heavy old fashioned wallpaper. Staff was very friendly and forthcoming. Food was good with flavors that were well balanced but did not quite oomph to amaze. The exception being the delightful creme brulee.
