Small hole in the wall restaurant, you can easily walk past it if you didn't know it was there. I happened to stumble past it as I was walking by and I saw a lot of teens there, which is a sign that the place is affordable! There's seating inside but you order and pay first before sitting down. It's not a fancy restaurant, it's like one of those places that's cheap and gets the job done. I ordered the peanut noodles (not pictured) and fried dumplings. The peanut noodles were so good! So much better compared to the watered down version from "shu jiao fu zhou" on Grand St. It was really creamy and flavorful and the noodles had just the right texture of springiness without being too soft like how some fujianese places make it. Would highly recommend but don't expect anything fancy or super crazy. It's just simple wheat noodles with a mixed peanut sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by the dumplings, they were made fresh to order. They were pork and chive dumplings, the chive taste wasn't overpowering but there was a really strong meaty taste. They were a little bit on the oily side since it is pan fried but that is expected. I enjoyed it but would not eat too often because the grease would get to me. Overall, classic inexpensive fujianese food that gets the job done. You get what you pay for and the food is delicious. If you grew up in Chinatown, Manhattan the taste of the food here might bring back some nostalgia. This spot is definitely an authentic Fujianese restaurant, the food is good and its not overhyped or over exposed like "shu jiao fu zhou", its a small mom/pop restaurant worth trying at least once. Will be back to try other things!

To start off when I walked in I placed my order and the person at the front was patient and welcoming. The food cost me $8.50 which is a really good price for the portion of food. The food didn't take long to come out and was ready to eat as soon as I got it. The fried pork dumplings were crispy and fresh. Every bite had a burst of flavor. It was my first time trying peanut noodles and it had a subtle peanut taste to it. It was creamy which I liked. Overall it was really good. Just make sure to mix up the gravy when you eat it. The atmosphere was small but they have seats for people sit and enjoy the food. CASH ONLY. (@jefeeatss On Instagram for food content)

Shui Mei Cafe was a bit difficult to find as there was no English name on the outside (I had to go by the address to find it). Once inside, we noticed there was limited seating, but people were eating quickly and leaving once they were done. It is a bit intimidating as everyone was speaking fujianese, which was how we communicated with the staff). Food came out super fast and piping hot! Staff was very friendly and there is a menu on the wall with numbers if there is a communication issue. Food was decent (I've had better fujianese food elsewhere, not gonna lie), but the restaurant does seem to be a staple in the neighborhood as we notice many fujianese locals stopping by to pick up breakfast. 3/5 Give the restaurant a try if you're into local fujianese food. Service is friendly and fast! However, don't expect a fancy dining situation. Cheap but good!
