Shun Xin Lou delivers exactly what a great Chinese restaurant should authentic flavors, consistency, and genuine hospitality. From the moment you walk in, the attention to detail is evident, both in the food and the service. Every visit has been a reminder that quality ingredients and proper execution never go unnoticed. Great Chinese dishes similar with close flavours to the authentic ones. Portions are generous matching to its price point, and a single dish can easily serve two to three people. Complimentary Chinese tea was served when you are seated which was very thoughtful. We ordered Cumin Lamb, Griddled Crispy Prawn, Stir Fried Beef, Garlic Lettuce. Flavours and spice levels were to the point. The cumin lamb with toasted cumin seeds provides a warm, nutty depth, while dried chili flakes add a slow-burn heat. It’s salty, intensely savory, and boldly rustic flavours. Clearly it won the star of the dish for us. Service, however, was disappointing. The waiter took quite a while to clear tables after customers left. As we were getting ready to leave, all the staff were gathered at one table, likely having lunch, while several tables in both the main area and private rooms remained uncleared. Those customers had left at least 15-20 minutes earlier, and we were the last ones in the restaurant. I understand that staff need lunch breaks, but having everyone take theirs at the same time left the place unattended. Even when we asked for the bill, the first request was simply acknowledged with no action, and the second time we were told to wait. They only moved to the cashier once we stood up to leave. The food was exceptional and the place has a great potential, but service is lacking, the staff’s behavior suggests they could benefit from some customer service training and the place lacked cleanliness and needs maintenance.
