Without a doubt, this was one of the most disappointing sushi experiences I’ve had in Tokyo. I travel to Japan several times a year and have dined at many of the city’s top sushi restaurants, including Arai, Sugita, Namba, Harutaka, to name a few. I’ve also discovered excellent mid-range gems like Kizaki, Rizaki, and Taichi, all offering memorable meals around the 20,000 yen mark. Hoping to find another hidden gem, I visited Sushi Hiroya, but left thoroughly disappointed. The ingredients were noticeably subpar, the sushi pieces were oversized with an overwhelming amount of rice, and the shari itself was slightly mushy. Several pieces, including the fatty tuna and scallops, were surprisingly bland and lacked depth of flavor. The service was slow and lacked warmth, and the overall atmosphere felt devoid of the passion and precision that usually define a good sushi experience. At nearly €120, it felt like money completely wasted. Unfortunately, there was nothing redeeming about the meal. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
