I came in for lunch with a friend because of the amazing reviews and knew right away they were going to be well deserved. This is a place, that even though there are visitors from elsewhere, is full of local people. As I watched, it reminded me of that old show, Cheers, where everyone knew everyone. We were promptly greeted as we walked in and quickly found a seat. Though it isn’t a large place, there were a few tables open when we came. There are also a number of stools at the counter. Our server came right over and got our drink order. It took us a while to figure out what we wanted to eat because there were so many great options. And the prices were very reasonable. There is also a board that lists the daily specials. It was taco Tuesday when we were there. We ended up both going with the tenderloin because based on the many reviews, this is one of the items that they are famous for. I ordered mine with just mayo and my friend got hers with mayo, lettuce and tomatoes. They came out super fresh and hot. And huge. We had split an order of fries and they were kind enough to just put half on each plate. The tenderloin was amazing. The breading is very thin and what was most surprising to me was that even though it was fried, it was not greasy at all. Delicious. Both of us were only able to eat half and we took the other half home with us. We followed up our meal with a piece of the state pie, the sugar cream pie. Since I’m from Georgia, I had never even heard of it. The filling was a bit like custard to me but denser and the crust was light and flaky. I normally don’t even eat the crust on pie but devoured this one. I also got a piece of the key lime pie to go for my husband. Of the two, this one was my favorite. The crust was thin and had just the right amount of sweetness and the filling just the perfect amount of tartness. Definite winner. I look forward to returning and trying some of the other menu items. Come in. You will be glad you did. Me and my family will no longer be dining with sweetser Cafe. I have never felt so unwelcomed in a restaurant. I go in to eat with my youngest son on his second birthday I'm first told that he can't share off my plate because the owner doesn't allow people to share meals. Then I'm told to put on my jacket when it is really warm in there only because I have it tied around my midsection and I'm wearing a sports bra that comes past my rib cage I was not severely exposed it was like wearing a crop top. After being told that I just decided to get our food together and leave. Tabitha the owner of the place was the one who told the server to tell me to put on the jacket and refused to let my son share my food with me. I've been here several times before and I have never had an issue until the owner was there I am severely disappointed. The servers are amazing and the atmosphere is usually chill. But today absolutely ruined the whole place for me. Good luck running a business and being unreasonable and disrespectful towards your customers.
