Yesterday the three of us were at Thai Square Gundeli. The restaurant was hardly occupied. The service was the biggest disaster! We weren't greeted, only asked how many were there. She quickly asked us if we wanted to order, but her face was petrified. She then gave us the worst freshly brewed peppermint tea (it only tasted like water) and served the food without any comment (no good appetite, no smile). The food was average. Then, petrified, she cleared the plates again without asking if it was tasty. We then had the courage to order an espresso, which was also served unfriendly and was as bad as the peppermint tea (brown water)! Unfortunately for us it was the first and last visit to this restaurant. You really have to change something. Actually a very nicely located restaurant, but disappointing in terms of professionalism. Service is friendly and tried hard, but also leisurely. The food is bland and tends to be small portions. Pad Thai definitely wasn't enough for me, but it was very good. Then I had to order something small and asked if the summer rolls could be fried. They discussed it with the chef in front of me, who seemed a bit annoyed and said it wasn't possible. Well, I should have known that already. You see it often and would be just right in winter. Then I ordered the fried gyoza instead. Unfortunately, these were simply “petrified” in the deep fryer without being cooked first. They were completely hard on the outside, like a papadum (from an Indian). Now I also knew why the chef said you couldn't fry the summer rolls. It's really not that easy in the deep fryer. Conclusion: rather disappointing, other guests also seemed disappointed by something. Has room for improvement.
