SHOCKED & SURPRISED WITH THE LACK OF WELCOME & PROFESSIONALISM We chose to visit this restaurant based on great reviews I read whilst we were travelling from Valencia to Barcelona. The owners website states that this establishment stands out for good cuisine and customer service. In low season there are fewer customers however they pride themselves that they stay open. Although the restaurant seemed quite busy the lady serving saw us waiting and didn't either acknowledge or tell us they were full. We continued to wait politely and then decided to walk through to the bar to ask. I speak reasonable Spanish and know she understood what I was saying. We were totally ignored then she spoke to a man (Rafa I believe) whom she had some cross words with. We asked if we could come back later & she told us no. We were shooed off the premises. We eat out in Spain alot and have never ever been treated like this. We know how restaurants get busy and are ourselves flexible but the treatment was totally unacceptable. We just felt that the glowing reviews should have some truth. Unfortunately we can not comment on the food as sadly we never got the opportunity to sample it. We went to Can Miquel restaurant which we had declined when asked if we would like a table earlier. Had beautiful food there and were made very welcome. Moral of our story was AVOID Taberna Mio Cid and go where you are welcome. The food was amazing with a great ambience! I am sure Taberna Mio Cid has alot of regular customers however if others are treated like this their reputation will suffer
