Beautiful!!! We had such a wonderful sunday lunch at The Talbot Inn in Mells. It was incredibly busy and, unfortunately, we didn’t have a table, but the Manager was absolutely fantastic and made us feel so welcome. He went out of his way to make sure we were able to eat and couldn’t have been more accommodating. Despite how busy it was, you could tell everything was under control and well managed. There was a really positive atmosphere, and the team handled the pressure brilliantly without it feeling chaotic. Our server, Ellie, was an absolute pleasure! She’s so friendly, attentive and a real credit to the team. A huge thank you to the whole team, especially the Manager and Ellie. We had a lovely experience and will definitely be back!

Unfortunately, our dinner here was a huge let-down. I was part of the same family visit, and despite the excellent reviews, the food and service did not come close to the standard we expected. We waited a long time before our meals arrived, and when they did, some of the food was overcooked and burnt. The meat was particularly disappointing, with very little edible meat and an excessive amount of fat. The gravy also seemed like ordinary instant gravy rather than something you would expect from a restaurant charging these prices. The chicken salad was perhaps the biggest surprise. There were only a couple of tiny pieces of chicken in the whole plate, making it difficult to understand how this could reasonably be described as a chicken salad. Considering how expensive the menu is, both the portion sizes and the quality were very poor. We specifically chose this place because of all the positive feedback online, so the difference between the reviews and our actual experience was quite surprising. Sadly, this was not an enjoyable meal and certainly not good value for money. I would not choose to eat here again.

Hello there, I wanted to respond to the most recent review as I understand you were part of the same larger family booking. You have clearly had a bad experience with us, the slow service you experienced is not acceptable and I am disappointed to hear that some of the food wasn’t up to our usual, high standard. Just to clarify one point mentioned across the reviews, our gravy is made completely from scratch by our chefs, with preparation beginning several days in advance of our Sunday service. So I can assure you it is not the instant stuff. I also hear your comments on the chicken salad and we are reviewing this dish to make sure it meets our usual high standards and reflects the level of food that has led to the many wonderful reviews you mention as being the reason you chose to visit us.We want every single person who comes in the door to have a fantastic experience and to leave feeling that we’ve exceeded their expectations. Unfortunately, on this occasion, we clearly fell short.

To my great disappointment, i chose this place as my Sunday roast restaurant to try the roast for the first time. I started off with chicken salad and failed to find any chicken at all. Just lots of greasy dressing. So, basically, i paid 10 pounds for a bunch of lettuce with dressing. But that was not the end of it. Roast came with premium cut of beef which wasn’t as easy to chew as it had lots of fat on it (if you happen to wear braces or other orthodontic devices be careful as mine was nearly coming off). And Yorkshire pudding was a whole different story as at first i thought this dark brown thing was a burnt piece of bread. However, to my surprise it was a pudding. Im going to agree with my friend who said it must be shameful to put it on the plate as it is an insult to the pudding. And for that roast people also pay nearly 30 pounds. I do not recommend this place to anybody as the quality of the food does not match the price.
