EXTREMELY good ramen. Noodles, broth, additions to it, it's all truly fantastic. And I say this as a bit of a "ramen head." Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Food - I've definitely had better ramen and curry in Honolulu. I'd say the food was decent, but not great enough to make me want to go back. Service - Again, Tanaka Ramen is not known for good and friendly service. It's super minimal. Not very friendly and the servers did not make me really feel welcomed into the restaurant. Ambience - This falls flat. I felt like the restaurant needed a really good deep cleaning. I didn't like the fact that the cleaning products and implements were out in the open. It just felt unclean in general, from floors to chairs to tables. Overall - I would absolutely keep walking by Tanaka Ramen. There are SO many choices in Ala Moana Shopping Center. Tanaka Ramen should step up their game if they want to remain competitive in the mall.

Hi Terry, Thank you for taking your time to write this review. First of all, there’s a customer vomit on the floor and we cleaned it right away. We’re still in the middle of cleaning when you arrived. We keep our store in a good cleaning condition. Even the kitchen. The mop and mop bucket is out because we’re trying to clean the vomit. I don’t understand what you mean by our interior is like something out of a third world country. My apologies for the inconvenience, but by the state law of Hawaii, it’s not required to have a restroom in every restaurant. Is there any problem with our services? What makes you feel that we don’t care and we don’t take pride? I hardly get any complains for our services. Thank you for your time. Tina

January 2023 marks my very first time in Hawaii. Tanaka Ramen & Izakaya is the spot of my first meal EVER in Hawaii, and I'm really happy that my boyfriend and I chose to have lunch here. It's inside the Ala Moana mall, and we were kind of in the mood for something with noodles and soup. When we stumbled across Tanaka, awed by the display of the samurai armor, we came in here. Great choice! We shared the Chicken Karaage, which came as HUGE pieces! They're bigger than the karaage I've eaten on the mainland in California. Also, it came with spicy mayo. I hate mayo in general, but this spicy mayo was so good! I had to keep dipping my chicken karaage into it. The Kale Noodles are delicious! I am such a noodle person, and this really satiated my noodle cravings. They kind of skimped on the chicken katsu, but they made up for it with the amazing karaage and stellar customer service and waitstaff and vibe. I absolutely love admiring the samurai armor they have on display, and the chalk art on the wall of the samurai slurping down noodles. They also played a lot of 2000s emo rock here. Where else can you enjoy delicious Japanese food with cool samurai armor as decor while listening to nostalgic 2000s rock music? Again, I'm thrilled we came here for my first meal in Hawaii!
