For me, the shell of an empanada is everything--with either sweet or savory offerings. Tarascon's has about as perfect as I've had in the PNW. Nice bit of chewiness, slightly sweet, and it holds together really well, so it makes for a pretty clean handheld treat. A first visit for us, so we just went for one of each, and let me tell ya, every bite was great. The nice owner asked me which one I liked best, and I made a deer-in-the-headlight look and mumbled a barely intelligible, 'all of them.' But it was the truth. It's a gloriously small menu, with nice options for vegetarians to enjoy (not sure about vegan, because of the shell). Ambiance is very spartan, sharing a dining area with the venerable Mr. Wok. Make sure you get side cups of their fantastic chimichurri--regular and spicy. They are not complimentary, but definitely worth the slight extra expense...

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Food is good. Staff/owners are very friendly. Food is flavorful and made fresh, you can see them preparing the food. The seating area is shared and very old/uncomfortable. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They found a great way to start their business in this little spot. Their counter and little section is remodeled well thoigh, clean and sleek.

I went here for the first time yesterday! The empanadas are AMAZING! They also took the time to explain to me what the different flavors consist of! Feel free to ask questions, the Alvarezes are very kind and helpful people. They have another company, Beemaniacs, up around Deer Park where I get my beekeeping supplies from and they are friendly and amazing there, too! Tarascon Empanadas is a must-try for tourists and locals alike!
