I really enjoy Taste at Lou’s, I’ve been there four times in my three week self catering casita stay in Mérida. The servers are welcoming and inviting, very knowledgeable regarding any food requests for dietary restrictions, an overall very friendly vibe. Every second Sunday there is live music beginning at 6:30. Very enjoyable, easy listening tunes to dine to. I’d encourage everyone to try it out!

Rare gem in Merida. A non assuming yet beautifully apportioned restaurant in the Santiago neighborhood. With only 5 tables the chef/owner creates miracles. With no menu to be seen one is left wondering what their evening holds. Bruce welcomes you by name as you enter and proceeds to just talk to you about your inner food desires. What you love, what you miss, want you’ve always wanted to try. He then leaves saying “I got just this thing for you” and leaves you in anticipation of what’s to come. For my wife and I he brought us 2 separate dishes that neither of us had ever tried yet both immediately fell in love with. I was served a perfectly cooked tender buffalo steak. It was as if he knew how much I appreciated a good steak yet have grown tired of all the over priced and over portioned steaks they consistently serve at the local steak houses in our great city that is Merida. On the other hand he served my wife a wild boar, reminiscent of the pork chops her father would feed her as a poor child in the south valley on special occasions, yet elevated to the sophistication she has achieved in life as an accomplished adult. Both were incredibly unique and unexpectedly welcomed dishes that we never knew we wanted but now can’t understand why we have never before experienced. We were left both pleased with the experience yet resentful that it was the first time for us in over 40 years of life. We finished with a very unassuming dessert of pear and blue cheese. Perfect for me as I have a distain for most sweets yet this combination left me craving more no matter how full the prior course had made me. So, if you are looking for not just a meal but a culinary experience that will leave you fantasizing about what your next visit will behold then Taste Restaurant Merida is likely the second home for you. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
