Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns with us. We were truly saddened to hear about how you felt during the Downtown Wheaton Trick-or-Treat event. Please know that the situation you described does not reflect who we are or the values we uphold at Tasting Devine. We would never intentionally treat any child differently, and we want to assure you that we did not hand out empty candy wrappers. All candy came directly from sealed, manufacturer-packaged bags. If an empty wrapper somehow made its way into a child’s bag, it was entirely unintentional, it was likely a result of the fast pace of the day as we welcomed hundreds of families in a short time. The lady passing out the candy was startled by the statement she was being discriminatory and got flustered. That said, we completely understand how upsetting this must have felt for you and your son, and we are so sorry that the experience left you feeling hurt or unwelcome. Regardless of intent, no family should ever feel that way. We’ve already shared this with our team as a reminder to slow down, stay attentive, and ensure that every child and parent who visits feels appreciated, seen, and cared for. Most all of us are moms here at the store. We are a small business who prides themselves on being hospitable to everyone who walks through our doors, especially children. Please accept our heartfelt apologies.
