Came in by chance and so pleased I did. It's a lovely old building with open fire, pool table and benches outside. Relaxed, with friendly staff and classic pub grub. It sounded like the staff were making some changes, hopefully just a few little tweaks like I heard (new pillows for the rooms etc) because it feels like a proper old pub, which is hard to find these days. Absolute highlight was the pub dog, who was very well behaved! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £10–20 Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free of charge parking lot

Absolutely disappointed by their customer care. I booked a room here in advance of my Ultramarathon race in July. I finished my race and arrived and faced a close doors. I checked my emails and messages again in case there has been any communication about self check in or late check in, but nothing has been sent to me. I called their number and couldn’t reach anyone. Because of the race all hotels in town were booked in advance. I spent 2 hours to find an available but pricey room with an exhausted body. Later for two weeks I tried to reach them but they didn’t reply my messages. I contacted booking.com customer service and they accepted to cancel my booking and refund me and after this point magically the village inn “manager” started sending me messages and blaming me instead of accepting their fault. I have never been inside, but from their communication style I can clearly how much they do care about their business and their customers.
