I have now been to Tesiny 5 times now and it’s still a place I immediately want to come back to. Starting with the important stuff: the food and drinks are consistently superb. Last night I had their new “Future Nostalgia” cocktail and the name is not deceiving. I’m already nostalgic thinking back to that refreshing cucumber cocktail. Short and concise review: Go to Tesiny. As soon as you can. If you can’t get a reservation, the bar is for walk-ins and I’ve always been able to get a seat. Order any cocktaiL beverage, the shrimp cocktail, the broiled oysters, and the chicken lollipops (not gluten free). Gluten free items are not marked on the menu, but they have plenty of options so just ask. Long version: The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail are the best in the city, and possibly the whole region. If you think you don’t like shrimp cocktail, you just haven’t had shrimp like the shrimp at Tesiny. They’re PERFECT: robust in size and flavor, tender yet firm, and impossibly fresh. Each bite has that perfect cold snap with a clean natural flavor, delicate salinity, and mild sweetness. I would say they’re good enough that they don’t need the herb aioli or horseradish crème fraîche, but everything in life would be better with these sauces. I wish they’d bottle them up and sell them. Unfortunately the chicken lollipops aren’t gluten free, but my husband says they’re the best “wings” in the city and his favorite thing on the menu. We also got the broiled oysters (another must-order), the mountain trout, and the octopus. Honestly, you can’t really go wrong with anything at Tesiny. Everything tastes extremely fresh and the high quality ingredients are noticeable. The vibe is sexy but approachable with an amber glow that somehow makes everything - and everyone - look and feel just a bit hotter. The bartenders and staff are all incredibly friendly, and I love that the owner is a visible part of the team. I’ve noticed her helping out bussing tables, running food, and helping wherever is needed with a welcoming smile on her face. It creates the kind of restaurant atmosphere that feels genuine rather than manufactured. Tesiny somehow manages to feel both polished and welcoming, which is probably why I keep finding myself wanting to come back there.
