I feel disappointed writing this review, but unfortunately our meals were not prepared to an acceptable standard. The dishes tasted more like a generic Chinese stir-fry than authentic Thai food. The meat was soggy and lacked texture, while the vegetables were overcooked and limp. Overall, the meals were very bland and lacked the fresh, vibrant flavours you would expect from Thai cuisine. I was also concerned to learn there were additives in the beef. When I asked at the end what had been added, I discovered ingredients had been used that were not disclosed beforehand. Been going here for years as i am a local, Food and Service is pretty good. My favourite is the pineapple fried rice , Coconut Rice, Stir fried peanut sauce and vegetables , Tom Yum Fried Rice $22.90. Stir fried rice with tom yum paste, egg, cherry tomatoes, mushroom and thai herbs. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $60–80

Is it fair to test a popular restaurant on a busy night? Fair or not we tested Thai Riffic Newtown on Valentines Day & sadly it failed. Every dish that was deep fried (curry puffs, money bags. salt & pepper squid) was singed brown, overly cooked & tasted that way. The lettuce ('salad') that accompanied most courses was limp & looked very much like it had been rescued from the plates of previous dinners. That only left the Basmati rice which (fortunately) was white a fluffy. But how can they wreck that, right? Verdict: Not to be trusted on a busy night.
