If you’re anywhere near Ballard, do yourself a favor and stop into The Block Cafe—this place absolutely nails the balance between cozy neighborhood charm and top-tier food. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and genuinely family-owned, not just in name but in spirit. The space is filled with beautiful plants that give it a fresh, clean, almost calming energy. It’s the kind of place you instantly feel comfortable settling into. The staff struck that rare perfect balance—welcoming, attentive, and professional without ever hovering. They were knowledgeable about the menu, happy to help, and made the whole experience feel effortless and relaxed. Now the food… outstanding. My partner ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and couldn’t stop talking about it (I snagged a bite and completely understand why). I went with the chilaquiles—packed with flavor, perfectly balanced, and just the right level of spice. And the bacon? Easily some of the best I’ve had in a long time—crispy, rich, and cooked exactly right.
