This place is awesome. We started with cocktails that were balanced, boozy, and beautiful. Then savory beignets that were light and perfect. The decor is fascinating and deeply inviting. The menu has at least 3 words on it this overeducated foodie didn’t know. The menu pulls from numerous cultures. This is a gem -well worth looking into. Had a date night here. A nice place to eat. Cozy atmosphere, very friendly staff, great meal and dessert. I can't wait until my next visit. ^_^. Overall, I had a lovely meal at the Buttonwood. The decor is cute and eclectic. The service was excellent! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Compound Butter Flute, the Katsu Curry, and the Bulgogi Melt— sub tofu. The compound butter app was my favorite thing we ordered. My only complaint is that there wasn’t enough butter to accompany all of the bread. We left 2 pieces of bread on the plate. I looked at photos that patrons posted in the last year and noticed that the appetizer used to come with 6 balls of butters (2 of each flavor). When we ordered it, it came with 3 balls. For the same price, that is disappointing. I wish the dish still came with 6 balls of butter… or at least 3 slightly larger balls. The sandwich was tasty, though I’m not sure it was large enough to warrant the $17 price point. I wish the tofu option was offered at a lower price than the beef, as tofu is much cheaper to supply. The katsu curry was delicious, as well. I sympathize with the fact that Mt. Vernon rent is not cheap and patronage can be spotty. Still— I would probably become a regular at this establishment if the portions matched the price. Instead, I’ll probably visit 2 or 3 times a year.
