This isn't so much a restaurant as it is a dining experience. If you are one of those people who watches those cooking competitions on TV and always wanted to be one of the people who gets to taste the food, this is your opportunity. You don't go here for your standard restaurant faire; you get to experience Chef Cipolla's original creations and get to enjoy a breadth of cuisine that you won't get ordering off a menu at a traditional restaurant. I highly recommend it.

Menu changes every 4-6 weeks. Currently BYOB. Single prix fixe menu, but there's a vegetarian menu as well.

This is fine dining, Rochester.. If you are looking for a fine dining experience in little old Rocha-cha that makes you feel like you’re in a culinary capital of the world, this is your restaurant. It’s not so much a restaurant as it is an interactive performance. From the construction and dialogue on your seven courses at the table-side bar to the whirling dance of the wait staff, The Kitchen executes its craft at a level very few (if any) other restaurants in Rochester can compare. Chef Joseph Cipolla certainly knows his food. But it’s not just that the chef can cook a perfect scallop that is tender yet firm, or sear some fois that will melt in your mouth like butter; he has the French technique down. It’s the subtle nuances in his dishes that put his establishment a cut above the rest: the pop of pink peppercorn and sweet-tart gooseberry in the rustic duck confit, the slightly spicy corn sprout on the true braised spare rib, the parmesan crisp atop the mushroom ragout. These are flavors you are not going to see come out of any other restaurant in the area. Superb flavors and service aside, The Kitchen is very friendly on the wallet and the environment. Where else can you get a regionally sourced seven-course meal under $100? You also don’t have to worry about the bar not having your favorite wine or beer, or the sticker shock of over-priced drinks; it’s BYOB. You can enjoy your preferred beverage in their small, intimate setting of local art, rustic black walnut tables, hand painted walls, and a soft indie pop soundtrack. Though the restaurant is still in its infancy, I have high hopes it will make a lasting impression on diners near and far for its ingenuity and Michelin quality dining experience.
