Thought we’d have a local lunch instead of going to the city. First mistake. We hadn’t been to The Linc for many years, after hearing mixed reviews. The refurbishment is very lovely and inviting, as were the staff, however the menu is drastically overpriced and doesn’t match the quality. My basic expectation when I eat out, is the food needs to be better than I can make at home myself. Very disappointing. Paying close to $40 for a piece of dried up chicken Maryland, two pieces of vegetables and half a plate of frozen chips is ludicrous. I could have perhaps overlooked the price if I was wowed by the flavour, alas it was lacking. My dining companion had duck risotto. Unfortunately the bones were still in it and the rice tasted boiled, not prepared in a traditional risotto method. Very disappointing and we won’t be back in a hurry. This place had so much potential but whoever is heading up the kitchen must have no tastebuds. Price per person: $40–60 Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We have been regulars here for about 5 years and have to say it has gone down hill. We arrived last night at about 7.40 and the place was nearly empty - on a Friday evening!!! Sure their high prices have driven customers away. We paid $200 for an entree, two steak mains, a bottle of wine and two beers. That’s approaching restaurant prices but it didn’t deliver on food quality and none of the service or trimmings of a restaurant. It was just a counter meal. You have to line up to place the order, go to the bar for your drinks. We both asked for steaks medium-rare, only one was, just; the other was definitely well on the upper side of medium. That steak was a bit larger but thinner than the first one. Surely any chef must know you just don’t cook steaks of different thicknesses for the same amount of time. After we had finished our steaks, we fancied a dessert only to be told the kitchen was closed. It was 9.05 pm! There were a few other people still eating their mains. Ok, in any eating place the kitchen has to close at some stage but how about letting guests know that it is about to happen and asking if they intend to order a dessert. We will not be in a rush to go back. Plenty of other pubs in the area Price per person: $60–80 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I had a bad experience a couple of years ago with the Linc and thought to give it a go again. Was disappointed in the food, service and atmosphere. Food: Parma didnt taste fresh and looked like it was just reheated from a McCain frozen one. Also this is the only pub I've ever been to anywhere in Australia where it doesnt serve salad as standard. Very strange. Service: Quick to send the meals out but service was a bit out of order. I had to move twice to get someone to take my order. It was 8pm and it looked like the bar staff were too busy tidying up and removing bar mats like it was about to close. Atmosphere: Was a bit dark in the main bar, could tell some lights were off. There was quite a rowdy table near us and the staff didnt tell them off for being so loud and obnoxious. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–40 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
