Wow! We over did it with the pie sampling, and although I'm stuffed, it was worth it :) we tried 1 savory chicken chili pie, easy to eat and great flavor. For dessert split the cherry vanilla champagne and Kentucky derby. Wow! Loved them both! They didn't fall apart, crust was flaky, packed w flavor and real food ingredients We will be back! Loved them! Loved that they were ready to go, nice and warm too.

The Pied Piper is one of two pie food trucks at the Backyard. I would first caution you that these are not traditional pies but hand pies. I was honestly expecting something more like a traditional mini pie, but these small half-moon pies can actually be eaten without utensils! I found it to be more similar to what I would call a turnover, but I found in my research that hand pies are actually quite common and have less flaky crust. They just have more crust proportionally and have less filling, making them thin and easy to eat without the content spilling out. I absolutely loved my caramel pecan pie! I also got to try my husband's cherry pie, which I also was a fan of. Both of the pies were pleasantly not as sweet (or fake tasting) as I expected. There really is a good balance of the buttery crust with the more sugary contents inside. I'll definitely be back to try other flavors and even some of the savory options, too!

PIES! Both savory and sweet, I'm surprised, but the savory was my favorite (that Jammin' Bacon Cheeseburger pie...delicious). Definitely will be back.
