Food:
The best part of the whole service. Like someone else wrote, it WAS the saving-grace. The only dish my friends and I did not enjoy were the pork-belly tacos. TOO MUCH SAUCE. More sauce and pineapple salsa in my mouth than pork+tortilla. The meat balls were not our fav either. I think I tasted too much fennel. It was kinda over-powering.
Server:
Our servers name was Maggie and to be honest that is the reason for the TWO stars. She would come up to the table, stare at my friends and I for about three seconds with eye contact, then ask us how are things but always gave us that “glaring-eye.” I’m gonna be as transparent as I can…I felt like she was completely judging us.
For whatever reason, she was never welcoming and looked at us like we were trash. I myself gave her 35% tip(cash) out of $45(my friend and I spilt bill), when honestly I just felt bad for her because of her attitude and personality. Truthfully she deserved only $5 if I do say so myself. She also snatched my card. Every time when we all would say “thank you,” she would just walk away from us and smirk.
If this is how Maggie goes into work, just don’t serve and let someone else receive a better tip and experience so that The Portrait Gallery can be talked about. I’ve told SO MANY of my clients about this spot and to go try it from near and far, but now I can only think about how bad the service was. I’ll tell them just go get take out if they really wanna try it.
One bad server can just ruin the WHOLE experience.
Sorry Portrait Gallery, she did not serve us well but the food was COOL!
