Do you enjoy paying 10x for super mediocre fusion food with great service and a really nice dining floor? Then the Slanted Door is for you! Seriously though, this place has great servers and a gorgeous dining area. But man, the food is mid at best - and costs $$$$$! I came here for a lifetime celebration meal and was left feeling completely underwhelmed by the food. I came in for lunch and also happy hour. Do not get the shaking beef special. It's seriously not worth $60 Go pick any random Thai/Vietnamese takeout place in the east bay and you'll get better food at 10% of the cost. Only come here if wait service and a wide open (and very pretty!) dining floor are more important than getting a good meal, let alone a good value for your money. I'd give this place 0 out of 5 stars if I could! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $90–100 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

The food is great here but the service is 12/10. I came here with my mom for my bday after trying their spring rolls at the Best of The Bay event — Gilberto was our server and he was so kind! We ordered the shaking beef, pea tendrils, and the spring rolls. They were so generous and brought us additional shrimp and chive dumplings and a desert. We are looking forward to coming back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I’ve been eating at The Slanted Door San Ramon for years now, and it never stops delivering. I grew up going to the original SF location, so Slanted Door has always been deeply nostalgic for me, and the San Ramon outpost absolutely holds up. The Dungeness crab noodles are still unreal and immediately take me back to being a teenager, ordering them again and again and never getting tired of it. Beyond the food, the service here really stands out. The team is polished, warm, and incredibly responsive, you always feel taken care of without things ever feeling stiff or overdone. It’s comforting (and impressive) to see a place maintain this level of consistency and hospitality across locations. A classic for a reason, and one I’ll keep coming back to.
